I was at the car wash a while ago and they were blasting out this song. I smiled and I secretly clapped right after shalala. I felt like dancing but I feared all the men around me who might kill me. The young ones just don’t understand how to shalalala in the morning.

Eagle Eye Cherry - Save Tonight

“There’s a log on the fire and it burns like me for you!”

I have to admit; off the top of my head this is one my most favorite songs ever (superlative much!). It’s one of the first few songs I tried to learn on the guitar (the first one was Kiss Me but that’s a story for another day) and it’s just one of those epic but subtle songs where it just really brings you back to the good times.

The Youtube commenters on that site says it’s a “raise glass and *cheer* song” but honestly, for me, it’s an “OH NO YOU DIDN’T!” type but that’s just me.

Vertical Horizon - Everything You Want

Just watched Boys and Girls (Freddie Prinze+Claire Forlani) last night so I remembered this song!

All I can say is it’s another one of those “I know i’m in the friend zone BUT I LOVE YOU PLEASE NOTICE ME AND LEAVE YOUR BOYFRIEND” type of songs. Why must the nice guy lose out? No fair!

The Wonders - That Thing You Do

A little pick me up after a long break. It’s the dude from Dead Man on Campus, Preston from Can’t Hardly Wait and Steve Zahn from… well, dare I say Strange Wilderness? But fine, he’s the dude from Reality Bites!!! Lastly, as per Wikipedia (the fast food restaurant of information), the bassist is apparently “Leather Coat Guy” from The Sweetest Thing.

Really cute song. So fun to sing. NSYNC has a version too haha!

This is for everyone who helped, who actually did something, who are emotionally and physically drained. I am overwhelmed with everything that’s been happening but at the same time, I see there’s still hope when people come together like they did yesterday and today. Every little act counts. Stay strong and be safe.

Bachelor Girl - Buses and Trains

I firmly believe that every girl needs a friend who will not encourage her 100% of the time and take her side when she’s about to do something stupid. She needs to know immediately if the guy is just not that into her (She’s Just Not Into You reference! love it!). So if your girl-friend starts singing something like this, it’s time to step in!

Code Red - What Good is A Heart

Code Red is a relatively unknown boy band. They’re in the “whatever happened to those dudes” category. BUT this is my favorite song of theirs! Great for drunken sing-alongs.

I remember this video very distinctly because I tried to master their dance (:46 mark) because it had this optical illusion of being very difficult. Damn, there was no Youtube back then so I had to wait for the video every single time so I can check if I was doing it right! I thought hey, maybe I can charm girls with this dance. I don’t know what I was thinking. I was 13.

98 Degrees - Invisible Man

You can look at this song in two ways. First, you’re the typical “friend-zoned” guy ; the Barney to the Robin, the Ryan Reynolds to the Amy Smart, the O’Malley to the Meredith Grey.

Second, you’re the brooding and heartbroken stalker who simply can’t muster up the courage to go up to the girl. This is the LFO to the Girl on TV or the Preston Myers to the Amanda Beckett (from Can’t Hardly Wait) or McLovin/Fogel to every girl he sees. Then again, perhaps all my examples end up with them getting to have sex with the girl, anyway. I don’t know about LFO but I think Rich got some from Jennifer Love Hewitt but she cheated on him.

The point is, if you are an ardent believer of pop culture, being the Invisible Man gets you laid.

Imajin - Always Been You

A Sunday can only mean an obligatory “Sunday Slowdown” post! This was the first one that came to mind when I was scanning my playlist. I frown upon this song for the following reasons:

1. Telling a girl you love her but at the same time telling her you like someone else will most of the time get you slapped
2. Consequently, when you tell a girl that you like her style but at the same time like someone else’s smile, it will again get you slapped
3. Saying that you’re a man and you’re tripping will probably merit a third slap
4. Lastly, you won’t even get the chance to say “it’s always been you”

It’s a love/hate thing. No bitterness whatsoever!

Probably one of the most popular Sunday Slowdown songs ever. It’s one of those where once the intro plays I’d probably say “oh nooooooooooo you didn’t!” but only my girlfriends would probably appreciate that. It doesn’t matter! My heart won’t behave.
